The South Hams, which lies within the AONB, is predominantly farmed countryside with verdant pastures and arable land enclosed by hedgerows and scattered with varied woodland. This rich environment produces a fantastic array of high-quality food. Moreover, the coastline abounds with abundant varieties of fish and seafood. Much of this food can be bought at the local butchers, fishmongers, independent stores and farmers markets. Many restaurants use these products as the basis of creating splendid dishes.
